40 Years of the BGZ in Berlin for development cooperation
Development cooperation has been the foundation of BGZ for 40 years. We began in 1983 with projects in the context of external aid. In the meantime, our focus is now on development policy in Germany in accordance with the 17 global goals for sustainable development of the Agenda 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We receive institutional funding through the Berlin State Office for Development Cooperation and support them in implementing the Berlin State Development Policy Guidelines. In this way, we are contributing to the networking of Berlin’s development cooperation within the European framework.
The portal “be fair” brings together all our projects on this key issue. The projects build on each other and have already received several awards.
An overview of the projects in which the SDGs are implemented can be found here: SDGs in BGZ-Projekten. We adopted guidelines on sustainability and gender equality.
